Terms of Reference for Content on NOAA-Wide Economics Web Site
The NOAA-wide Economics Web site covers economic data and analyses on subjects of interest to NOAA. Submitted material should be appropriate for general audiences, including NOAA leadership and program managers and Congress.
The Web site is intended to focus on special studies that are primarily quantitative in nature. The site is not intended to include items that are primarily descriptions of methodology, manuals, program descriptions, theoretical papers for highly specialized audiences, descriptive statistics, or operational or performance data.
All submissions should be accompanied by a separate, brief executive summary suitable for insertion into the text of the Web site, along with any suggestions as to where on the site it could be placed. Where possible, links to reports and articles should be to actual reports and articles rather than just bibliographical references. Studies referred to on the site must include references.
Submissions are reviewed by one or more NOAA personnel from a related mission goal team to assure appropriateness and quality.
Suggestions for including links to external web sites are also of interest, as these can be added. In the future, the intent is for this Web site to include information from other social sciences (e.g., geography, sociology, risk management) to compliment the current economics focus.
